Slide ‘N Glide’s drift event sponsored by the golden sponsor Fuad Al-Ghanim and Sons Automotive Co., Silver sponsors Albourne Village and We-Sell-Them.com launched the second drift event on Friday (January 13, 2012) at the inspiring Bahrain International Circuit by a dedicated Kuwaiti team of enthusiasts. The event opened its doors at 2pm welcoming participants from different GCC countries to have the opportunity to practice their drifting skills in a safe environment. Drift day as its known, had two track courses, the first track course was open for practice to help prepare the drivers get used to driving side-ways and build up their skills. Followed by a practice on the competition track which they will compete on by the end of the day. During the day the spectators were welcomed with free passenger rides after signing a waiver. At 8:30 pm the drifting competition started with 3 runs judged by the Slide ‘N Glide team for each driver. Points where awarded based on drift initiation, transition, precision for each run on a scale out of 10 points combined at the end of the 3rd run. After a close points battle between the competitors Muath Al-essa won the Slide ‘N Glide 1st place position followed by Abdulhadi Al-Qahtani in 2nd place and Haroon Al-murbati in 3rd.

Slide ‘N Glide’s mission is to start a drift community in the region (GCC), support the talented drivers, allow them to practice in a safe environment, while giving back to society as much as we possibly can.

As Slide ‘N Glide promised to give back to society, part of this event’s revenue will be donated to a cancer awareness charity.

Event summary:

This is Slide ‘N Glide’s second drift event, located in Bahrain International Circuit. We are coming back for more drifting action as we have promised at our last event to support and improve the awareness of this motor-sport. Our previous October 22nd event was a great learning experience for us and the participating drivers, we wish to continue this effort by organizing the January 13, 2012 drift event.

This event will be similar to our first event for the most part, however we are planning to improving some aspects such as:

• Better organize the the sessions timing and the event over all time
• Have a better practice and competition courses
• Improve and clarify the judging criteria
• Allow more driving time for the drivers

Slide ‘N Glide is more than happy to announce the second drift event! The support of our previous sponsors and participants has given us the courage to push forward for more adrenaline in our next event. The event will again be held at the inspiring Bahrain International Circuit on January 13, 2011.

We will start the event at 2pm with briefing and applying stickers, then the track will be open for the warm-up practice, and at last the competition at 8:30 for who ever is interested to join.

We hope to see everyone that showed up for our previous event, we also hope to see more drifters joining us and everyone is more than welcome to be part of second Slide ‘N Glide Drift Event – Bahrain.

Slide ‘N Glide’s first drift event was a success! Thanks to the support of the sponsors, 13 participants from various GCC countries, audience, and everyone that helped out to make this event succeed. The event opened its doors for the participants at 9am until 3:30pm for sign-up and branding the cars. The drivers were briefed with the rules and regulations of the track before they went to practice. This was followed by an open practice session for warming up. After the second briefing which included a walk through, Practice 2 was open on the competition track. An experienced member of the Slide ‘N Glide team was present in case any member needed help, tips and how-to’s to refrain any driver from spinning out on the track. Finally at 4pm the drivers lined up for the competition. The competition was consisted of 3 runs per driver being judged by two Slide ‘N Glide members. The points were awared on a scale of 10. Six out fo the 13 participants had a competitive streak in their body and competed against each, the rest created a support and enjoyed the show. The sponsors led a helping hand as well. A representative from WE-SELL-THEM.com volunteered in displaying the points gained in every run. The team calculated the total points earned and announced the winner. Salman Mahmoud in a white Nissan S14 Silvia was awarded by Mr. Sulaiman Al-Dhakheel the CEO of WE-SELL-THEM.com and Mubarak Al-Rumaidhi an iPad 2 as his first place prize. Slide ‘N Glide organizers Abdulaziz Al-Zamel and Mubarak Al-Rumaidhi announced the donation to the representative of Steps Rehabilitation Center, Ms. Dalal Alsindi, to the public. Slide ‘N Glide hopes to have a greater presence in the future.
